Unsere Reise durch Tibet ist eine organisierte Tour. Ohne Tour ist es recht schwierig Permit etc. zu bekommen, jedoch nicht unmöglich! Einige Hostels (Shanghai, XiAn) bieten den “Service” solcher “virtuellen Touren” an… (virtuell, weil bis Lhasa eine Gruppe besteht und ab dann nicht mehr). Ob man dann aber problemlos herumreisen kann (am Plateau) ist stark vom Wetter, Windrichtung und Laune der Polizei abhängig.

Apropos Polizei: In Lhasa ist im Moment extrem viel Militär und Polizei präsent. Alle paar Minuten begegnet man einer Gruppe Soldaten mit MPs…

Da wir vorraussichtlich erst wieder in Kathmandu Internet haben werden, poste ich den Reiseplan hier:

Day 1: Lhasa (3650 m.) Upon arrival in Lhasa, our representative meets you at the train station & transfer to hotel in Lhasa. Overnight Hotel Flora or similar (room with attached bath)

Day 2: Lhasa sightseeing tour After breakfast, we set off for a full day guided sightseeing tour. Today, we visit Potala Palace, Norbulinkha Palace (the summer palace of Dalai Lama) and Jokhang temple & Barkhor Square. Overnight at Hotel Flora or similar (room with attached bath)

Day 3: Lhasa sightseeing tour Today, we visit two of the very significant Monasteries, Remoche Monastery and Sera Monastery, of Tibet. Also, we visit Tibetan Medical Centre in the evening. Overnight at Hotel Flora or similar (room with attached bath)

Day 4: Drive, Lhasa to Gyantse (3950 m.) – 7 hours Early morning, we proceed for Gyantse via Lake Yamdruk (Yamdruk Tso). Gyantse is the fourth largest city in Tibet (after Shigatse and Chamdo). Gyantse jeweled with some ancient Monastery and Stupa. We visit Khumbum stupa, Gyantse Dzong and Palkor Choide Monastery in Gyantse. Overnight at Hotel Utse or similar (room with attached bath)

Day 5: Drive, Gyantse to Shigatse (3900 m.) – 3 hours After breakfast, we head out to Shigatse. In Shigatse we visit the Tashilungpu Monastery, the official Panchen Lama’s residence, built in 1447, although it did not really become the seat of the Panchen Lama until almost 200 years later.Overnight at Hotel Everest Friendship or similar (room with attached bath)

Day 6: Shigatse to Xegar (New Tingri) – 7 hours Today, you have an extensive distance to travel to reach Xegar (new Tingri) via two high passes en route. Overnight at Xegarpost Guesthouse or similar (room with common toilet)

Day 7: Drive, Xegar to Rongbuk village (4920 m.) – 4 hours You are reaching to your ultimate destination (Rongbuk – Base of Mt. Everest) today via Pangla pass. Rongbuk, where the highest Monastery in the world is established lies some 8 kms from Everest Base Camp. There are magnificent views up the valley of Mount Everest and Cho-Oyu which can be seen from the guest house. Overnight at Rongbuk Guesthouse or similar (room with common toilet)

Day 8: Drive, Rongbuk to Zhangmu (2100 m.) – 8 hours Today is your last journey on Tibetan Plateau. Zhangmu, also known as Khasa or Dram, lies on a mountainside 10km (6 miles) inland from the Friendship Bridge that spans the Bhotekoshi (the Sun Koshi) River. This small town has become a major trading post between Tibet and Nepal. The subtropical climate endows the small town with warm, humid weather and beautiful scenery throughout the year. The town is built along a winding road that is lined with private homes, shops, restaurants and government buildings. Overnight Hotel Gyangjong (room with common toilet)

Day 9: Drive, Zhangmu to Kathmandu – 5hours A 15 minutes’ drive from ZhangMu takes you to friendship-bridge. In friendship-bridge, our representative from Kathmandu-office will meet you and help you to complete the immigration formalities in Nepal side. After immigration process, you will drive to Kathmandu. This scenic journey takes four and half hours.
